AI meeting minutes: from transcript to finished minutes.

AI meeting minutes start from the transcript of the conversation and turn it into a document: decisions, action items with an owner and a due date, and a summary you can send to the team. Ata does this from Meet, Zoom and Teams captions, with no bot in the call. See what it delivers, how to use it and what to check before sending.

Step by step

How to make meeting minutes with AI

Three steps, no setup.

  1. 1

    Install the extension

From the Chrome Web Store, free, with no invite or waitlist. It works on Chrome, Edge and Brave. Sign in with email and password, Google or Microsoft.

  2. 2

    Join the meeting as usual

Join Meet, Zoom (web) or Teams (web). Ata turns on the platform captions by itself, as long as they are available, and transcribes each line with a speaker name and timestamp. No bot joins the call.

  3. 3

Generate the minutes at the end

When the meeting ends, one click produces the minutes, the summary, the action items and the follow-up email. There are templates by meeting type (sales, 1:1, daily, interview) and saved prompts.

Review before sending: AI can get names, dates and decisions wrong, so check the result against what was agreed in the meeting.
To share it, the Send button delivers the minutes by Gmail, Outlook, email, WhatsApp or Slack, with a public link to the full minutes that recipients can open without an account.
Ata does not record audio or video: it only processes the caption text.
Let participants know the meeting is being transcribed: Ata does not send that notice for you.

Minutes by hand or minutes with AI

By hand

Writing with a template

  • Makes sense for short, informal meetings.
  • A ready-made template helps you not skip fields like agenda, decisions and action items.
  • It takes the note taker's attention and depends on their memory.
With AI

Generating with Ata

  • It starts from the word-for-word transcript, with a speaker name and timestamp on each line.
  • It hands you minutes, a summary and action items at the end, with no note taking during the call.
  • It needs captions available on the platform and a review from you before sending.
